Outlook 2010 Email Setup

Steps on how to set up your Outlook 2010 email client


The instructions listed below are for the general setup of various email clients and cannot be guaranteed to work with every email client. However, the following configuration settings are appropriate for all third party email clients, including Outlook, Thunderbird, iOS Mail and more.

Note: When using the examples below, be sure to replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name. In email examples, replace the full email address.

  1. In Outlook 2010, click File then select Info from the dropdown menu.

  2. Click Account Settings.

  3. Select the Add and remove accounts option from the drop down.

  4. In the Email tab, click New.

  5. Complete the Settings information: 
     
    Your Name The name you wish displayed when people receive your emails
    Email Address The email address you are sending email from
    Account Type This should be set to POP3 or IMAP
    Incoming Mail Server This should be set to mail.yourdomain.com
    Outgoing mail server This should be set to mail.yourdomain.com
    Username Your full email address is required
    Password The password used for this email account.

  6. Click More Settings button located in the bottom right corner and Select the Outgoing Server tab.

  7. Select My outgoing mail sever (SMTP) requires authentication and Use same settings as incoming mail server.

  8. Select the Advanced tab.

    Server Port Numbers:
    Incoming server set to: 110 for POP, 143 for IMAP
    Outgoing server set to: 25 - If this won’t work, try 26. If neither 25 nor 26 work, try 587.

    For Comcast/Xfinity Internet customers, use port 587 - ports 25 and 26 are both blocked on their network.

    Security settings: No SSL boxes should be checked.

  9. Click Ok.

  10. Click Next then Finish.
